Artist Statement

My work creates a conversation with the past. The found image and all its antiquity is altered through cutting, combining and animating. I discard the context and present the found image with a new and unique purpose. A new dynamic is formed through this process. I address the often-ignored found image, forcing viewers to observe this.

The combining of two or more elements that shouldn’t necessarily connect is something that fascinates me about working with found imagery. There is opportunity to work a narrative from an image many would discard or ignore.

The purpose of altering these images is to address the image itself. Through bringing them to the attention of an audience questions are formed about the origins of the images. What was it before it was that?
